2) Yes, from family and friends.

Tara answered the questions on Saturday October 4, 2014:
1) No. None of the developers have even broached the subject with me, which I think speaks volumes about the integrity of my work on behalf of residents thus far.
2) During this campaign period, I have accepted an in-kind donation from personal friends who live in Newmarket. The couple aspire to live in East Gwillimbury (as many do!).
3) For this campaign period, I have chosen to only accept donations from individuals. In 2010, I accepted one financial contribution of $300 from a small EG business, as well as in-kind donations from three small EG businesses - total value less than $250.
4) The majority of my campaign expenses will be paid by me personally. The modest amounts in donations that I have accepted will assist in partially defraying the costs incurred. The costs of my campaign are built into our annual household budget.

Steve answered the questions on Saturday October 4, 2014:
1. I have not accepted any donations from the development and/or construction industry. Nor do I plan to accept any.
2. I have not accepted any donations from outside of East Gwillimbury. Nor do I plan to accept any.
3. I have not accepted any donations from local businesses per se. I have donations from 4 of my closest friends who live in EG, two of whom own businesses in EG. One is a dentist office and the other is a coffee shop in town. They have been my closest friends for over a decade and both provided references on my website.
4. My plan at the offset was to finance my own campaign. I put together a preliminary budget of less than $2k and figured it was manageable in my single income household. As it became apparent that I had the fewest signs out there and had no pamphlets or flyers printed, I needed to increase my spend a little, so it’s nearing the $3k mark now. My close friends, whom are aware of my situation, then offered to assist a little. I was recently endorsed by the CUPE Local 905 union, but I rejected their offer for financial support. Whether it is a developer, corporation, or union, I don’t feel comfortable putting myself in a situation where my morals/ethics could be put into question, whether real or perceived.
